Insurance is important, especially if you have a family to think of. But how do you know which one is right for you? There are many different insurance companies out there, each of them offering something different.
There are three different types of insurance:
Whole life; the most traditional form of life insurance. The premiums would stay the same price, and the policy would continue until death, even if the premiums have been paid completely. However, you don’t have a choice in how the funds are distributed.
Variable life; the build up cash reserves which the customer can choose to invest in the options the company has to offer.
Universal life; the amount you pay be varied, and the amount paid out on death can be varied as well. However, for these options you will pay more for administration fees.
Know what you need before you even think about looking for a life insurance policy. For example, if you have a family that is wholly dependent on your income then perhaps a whole life policy isn’t the right one for you.
Always ask questions. If you don’t understand anything they say, then ask them to explain it. It’s better to know everything about it. Question their policies, try to barter your way into a better contract. Nothing is ever set in stone, until you sign the contract there is always room for change.
Shop around, when it comes to finding the right policy for you the best thing is to look at every insurance company available. Cheapest isn’t always the best though, sure to find out what each policy has to offer. Sometimes if you mention you are doing a comparison the company will offer you extra’s that aren’t always included. Remember, they need you more then you need them.
If it all gets to be too much for you, try seeking out a professional advisor. They aren’t free, but they will get you the best deal.
